Ann reading with children

At some point you may have asked or wondered “What can I do at home to help my child with reading?”  You have found at home support.  I Can REALLY Read!!! provides interactive reading comprehension guides developed for parents who wish to have a positive influence in the development of reading comprehension as their children learn to read.

Reading comprehension is the key to success in education.  Education is the key to success in life.  Parents as active participants in the education process will positively impact the success of their children.

I have independently developed interactive reading comprehension guides that coordinate with books children in kindergarten through third grade use when learning to read.  These guides are in no way affiliated with, associated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the authors or the publishers.  These guides can be purchased with or without the accompanying books.

Learning to read is a complicated process that starts with language.  Your child understands what you say to him.  Reading comprehension is the ability to understand what the words we see in print say to us.  That is pretty simplified.

Children in kindergarten through third grade are perfecting their reading skills.  There are many factors in this process.  The skills of decoding, letter and word recognition and vocabulary are interwoven into comprehension.  These guides will help you strengthen developing skills while spending precious time reading with your child.  Within the guides you will find suggestions for comments and questions you can use to discuss the books with your child.  By talking with your child about what is being read, you will have a significant effect on your child’s reading comprehension.

I spent 35 years teaching first and second graders to learn to read.  A huge piece of my responsibility was to the parents of these children.  All children need to learn to be independent readers.  All children benefit from parent involvement during this process.  Upon my retirement I searched for a way to continue my support to children and parents.  The guides I have developed are a result of my desire to give parents tools to use that will allow them to have a positive influence on their child’s reading comprehension.
