Ann reading with children

I graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA degree in Elementary Education.  I began my career teaching first grade in Kalona, Iowa.  My husband’s military duty took us to El Paso, Texas where I taught first grade for two years.  We returned to our home town and I began what turned into thirty-two years teaching first and second graders in the Marshalltown, Iowa, Community School District.  Since my retirement 3 years ago, I have helped in our schools with testing and substituting.  This past year brought a granddaughter into our lives.  What joy to be able to spend precious time with her and to see her develop into a busy, inquisitive, delightful child.  It is for her and other children in her generation that I want to share my knowledge about reading.  Getting my guides into the hands of people who care about education and children is my way of continuing my passion.
